How Will It Work?
We aim to site the Mobile Dialysis Unit at a hospital, cottage hospital or health centre in unusual circumstances it could be sited at some other well known point of local interest. There will be a connection point arranged for electricity, water and waste.

There will be a stairway for the ambulant to enter the vehicle and there will be a lift for those requiring chair assistance. Inside the vehicle there will be four chairs and four dialysis machines.

The Mobile Dialysis Unit will be in the first town of the day by 8.00 AM, at 12.00 Noon it will set of for the next town arriving by 1.00 PM. It will drive to the last town of the day by 6.00 PM and will finish at 10.00 PM when it will return to the depot. This means it will do 3 towns on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. (The A Towns) and 3 Towns on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. (The B Towns)

On Sunday the vehicle will have planned maintenence in order to keep both vehicle and Renal Systems in tip top condition, ready to face another week of activity.

Nursing Opportunities

Gambro in Association with the designated Renal Authority will provide training for nurses living in rural locations, so that they can specialise in Renal Dialysis Nursing. This will give many nurses an opportunity to develop new skills and employment, which would not otherwise be available.
